INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. Tonya Pfaff (D-Terre Haute) today announced that she has been selected to serve on four study committees during the 2022 interim.

State legislators serve on interim committees during the summer and fall to examine and research a range of policy issues, gather expert and public input and recommend legislation for the following session.

Pfaff will serve on Interim Study Committees on Commerce and Economic Development, Elections, Civic Education and the Commission for Women.

“It is a privilege to serve on the civic education committee, especially with the recent implementation of a new civics course that I helped design,” said Pfaff.

A law passed in 2021 that made civics education a required class in middle school, and in June, the state Board of Education approved the academic standards for that new course.

“There is certainly a lot of work to be done in the coming months,” Pfaff added. “I’m prepared and committed to working with my colleagues and constituents to address the issues that all Hoosiers are facing right now.”
