Porter reacts to Community Crossings Grant for Indianapolis
Today, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced that Indianapolis will will receive $1 million in Community Crossings Matching Grants to fund road and infrastructure improvements throughout the city.
Started in 2016, Community Crossings is a partnership between INDOT and communities throughout the state to build and maintain infrastructure, create jobs and enhance public transportation.
State Rep. Gregory W. Porter (D-Indianapolis) issued the following statement regarding the grant allocation:
“This funding is going to do wonders for Indianapolis and is much needed. Too many roads and communities in our city have historically been forgotten and are left in disrepair. This funding is just one step in a local effort to promote equity in our roads, sidewalks and transportation. Well-maintained roads and sidewalks are essential to a safe, vibrant city. I look forward to seeing what this funding is able to do for our community, and I’d like to thank INDOT for this contribution.”
