Macer, Indiana House honor Ben Davis High School boys basketball state champions
INDIANAPOLIS – Members of the Indiana House today joined State Representative Karlee Macer(D-Indianapolis) in honoring the Ben Davis High School boys basketball team for winning the Class 4A state championship.
On March 25, Ben Davis High School defeated Fort Wayne North Side by 55-52.
After trailing most of the game, Ben Davis finally tied the score at 46 with only 3:12 left.
Jalen Windham hit a 3-point shot to put the Giants ahead, followed by three points from R.J. Turner to give Ben Davis a 52-46 lead with 1:19 left.
Fort Wayne North got within two points with only 18 seconds left in the game, but Josh Brewer hit a free throw to give the Giants a three-point lead and help secure the win.
The resolution recognizes the Ben Davis players, managers, administrators and coaching staff, and Macer had special praise for head coach Mark James, who won his first state championship after 35 years of coaching.
“I am very honored to present the Ben Davis High School boys basketball team with this resolution,” said Macer. “Their dedication on the court and in the classroom has been noticed by not only their peers but their teachers and parents as well. They perform to the highest standards and are great examples of teamwork and perseverance.”
