Campbell comments on bill that could make it harder for health departments to order public restrictions
INDIANAPOLIS – State Representative Chris Campbell (D-West Lafayette) commented on the passage of Senate Bill 5, legislation that could make it harder for health departments to order public restrictions.
“This knee-jerk reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic is dangerous for public health,” Campbell said. “I join my fellow health care professionals in opposition to Senate Bill 5, which is why I voted against it on the House floor yesterday. As Indiana continues to grapple with the health and economic impacts of a global pandemic, I have continuously advocated for the need of our governing entities to act swiftly in times of crisis. I wish my colleagues across the aisle would empower local health departments to do what is best for their communities, instead of hamstringing their abilities to act.
“It's time to get politics out of health care.”
