Campbell announces four interim study committee assignments
INDIANAPOLIS – State Representative Chris Campbell (D-West Lafayette) today announced that she has been selected to serve on four interim study committees in preparation for the 2021 legislative session.
Last month, the Legislative Council assigned study topics to each of the interim study committees. Interim study committees give lawmakers the opportunity to conduct hearings, participate in debates and take part in discussions with constituents on important issues that were identified in the previous legislative session.
Campbell will serve on the following: Interim Study Committee on Government; Medicaid Advisory Committee; Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations; and Interim Study Committee on Financial Institutions and Insurance.
“Since the ending of the past legislative session, I've been outspoken about the two concurrent issues facing Indiana: COVID-19 and the civil unrest following the death of George Floyd,” Campbell said.
“Interim study committees are a vital part of the legislative process as lawmakers can find the time to dive deeper into issues and learn from debate, testimony and research. I'm most looking forward to hearing directly from Hoosiers on how the legislature can best serve them and their needs, which should always be the number one goal of the Indiana General Assembly.”
During the legislative session, Campbell is the ranking Democrat on the Government and Regulatory Reform Committee; and serves as a member on the House Ways and Means Committee and the Insurance Committee.
