Bartlett to serve on military affairs and supplier diversity summer study committees
INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. John L. Bartlett (D-Indianapolis) today announced that he has been selected to serve on the Governor's Commission on Supplier Diversity and the Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs in preparation for the 2021 legislative session.
The interim committees explore a range of legislative topics. At the hearings, members listen to the testimony of experts and the general public. During the legislative session, permanent committees in both chambers often consider bills based upon the interim committees’ findings.
“These summer committees provide an essential function for the General Assembly,” Bartlett said. “They offer opportunities to put a magnifying glass on the topics we'll be writing legislation about next session. They also allow for meaningful discussions, not just amongst ourselves, but with the constituents we serve. It's vital that we listen to Hoosiers with open ears in order to make the right decisions for our state.
