Rep. Phil GiaQuinta named to legislative study committees
INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. Phil GiaQuinta (D-Fort Wayne) has been appointed to legislative study committees that will meet during the coming months.
GiaQuinta will serve on the Alcohol Code Revision Commission; the Interim Study Committee on Public Policy; and the NCSL 2020 Legislative Summit Host Committee.
The Alcohol Code Revision Commission will explore ways to improve consistency within the Indiana alcohol licensing system as well as reduce the complexity of it. In addition, the commission will examine the current quota system for issuing alcohol licenses and look at over-consumption at retail outlets, the hours of sales and the effect on DUI rates, sexual assaults and public safety.
The Interim Study Committee on Public Policy will examine the issue of sports wagering and its impact. The committee also will make recommendations about whether a charity gaming worker can receive remuneration or a meal for conducting or assisting with the games.
