Rep. Mitch Gore announces 2021 legislative agenda

News & Media

INDIANAPOLIS – State Representative Mitch Gore (D-Indianapolis) today announced his legislative agenda for the 2021 Legislative Session.

“This past year brought countless challenges for Hoosiers,” Gore said. “This legislative session, I will continue fighting for my neighbors in Beech Grove and Indianapolis and will work hard to address issues that affect us most.”

During the legislative session, Gore plans to focus on the following:

Public safety

A Captain at the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Gore plans to work with his colleagues on the Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee to build a safer Indiana.

“At the bare minimum, every Hoosier deserves to feel safe in their home and protected in their neighborhood,” Gore said. “In the General Assembly, I will work to advance measures designed to reduce crime, address its underlying roots, and restore faith in our justice system. It's imperative that we enact common-sense policing measures paired with responsible investment in our public safety agencies.”

Improving infrastructure

Gore has already begun collaborating with community leaders and stakeholders to address critical local infrastructure needs.

“As a member of the Roads and Transportation Committee, I want to ensure Hoosiers have access to quality infrastructure, from roads to vital transportation systems,” Gore said. “We can't get our economy working again, and boost it, if Hoosiers can't easily get to work, school, and local shops and businesses.”

Assisting small businesses

Gore understands firsthand the struggles of small business owners.

“Small businesses, and particularly restaurants, have been some of the hardest hit establishments during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Gore said. “During the Great Recession, I helped keep my family's restaurant afloat so I know firsthand the devastating effects economic downturns can have on small businesses, and I will fight to provide relief to those struggling.”

The 2021 Legislative Session began yesterday.
