Rep. Hamilton to host sneak peek of new nature park

News & Media, Media Releases, News & Media Featured

State Rep. Carey Hamilton (D-Indianapolis) will host a sneak peek of Sargent Road Nature Park on Nov. 4. The park is slated to open in the spring of 2024. Starting at 11 a.m., there will be a 40-minute hike, followed by a questions and answer period about the property and ongoing work of the Mud Creek Conservancy.

This 25-acre natural area was purchased and protected by Mud Creek Conservancy (an all-volunteer nonprofit land trust) in 2021 after a 2-year grassroots fundraising effort. The community rallied behind MCC to preserve the site and they are now actively fundraising for and constructing this new nature park. The site is home to wetlands, forests and meadows, and will offer parking, over a mile of nature trails (both gravel and natural surface), benches and educational displays featuring local nature art. Learn more about the effort at SargentRoadNaturePark.com.

Parking at Sargent Road Nature Park (SE Corner of 82nd St and Sargent Rd) with overflow parking at 8100 Sargent Rd (right across Sargent from the park entrance). Volunteers will be on hand to assist.
