POWER Caucus Scholarship application deadline extended

The deadline to apply for the Indiana Political Organization for Women’s Education and Representation (POWER) Caucus scholarship has been extended from Nov. 15 to Nov. 20. Around $750 is awarded to as many applicants as possible biennially to women who give back to their communities and demonstrate a dedication to bettering the world around them. The intention of the scholarship is to help Hoosier women who took a “non-traditional” route for their education, meaning they returned to an Indiana school to pursue a graduate or undergraduate degree at or after the age of 25. 

“The decision to go back to school after the age of 25 is daunting for many women,” POWER Caucus Chair State Rep. Carolyn Jackson (D-Hammond) said. “No matter what phase in life a woman is at, those who choose to further their education deserve to feel empowered. The POWER scholarship aims to support women who have given back to their communities as they take their futures into their own hands and go after their next degree.”
