Moed’s effort to improve government transparency advances to Indiana Senate
INDIANAPOLIS – Members of the Indiana House today unanimously passed legislation co-authored by Justin Moed (D-Indianapolis) that requires the Marion County Clerk to post all roll call votes of county and city bodies.
“I am pleased members of the House passed House Bill 1622,” said Moed. “This legislation will require roll call votes to be posted within 24 hours of city council meetings and other legislative matters.
“I believe this is an important step to increase transparency between legislators and the public. It is always good government to help the public see how elected officials vote,” he added.
“Business before the city council impacts quality of life in neighborhoods on a daily basis. Now residents will be able to better see how those who serve them vote,” Moed concluded.
House Bill 1622 passed through the Indiana House with a vote of 94 to 0. It will now move to the Senate for further review.
