All four branches of the military will be represented through the Indiana Department of Veteran Affairs, which will be providing information to veterans regarding license plates and the GI Bill as well as medical and women’s issues.
Other groups in attendance include Disabled American Veterans, which will have information pertaining to helping veterans file claims, and Sister Soldiers which will help coach veterans in the transition from military to civilian life. The Military Veterans Coalition of Indiana will also be on hand to offer veterans information regarding education and legislation.
“The Veteran Resource Event serves to provide our veterans with every available resource we can after they have provided so much for our country,” said Macer. “There are a numerous organizations that seek to assist military members and this is a way for us to help our veterans and their families get in touch with any services they may need.”
The event hosted by Macer, the Ranking Minority Member of the Indiana House Veterans Affairs & Public Safety Committee, will provide veterans with access to services including job placement through Operation Job Ready as well as emergency housing and disability services.
The Indiana Department American Legion, National Guard Family Assistance, American Veterans and the Hoosier Veteran Assistance Foundation will all be available to provide support and services for veterans during the event.
“There is an abundance of resources designed to serve veterans and their families, but oftentimes we see that connecting with those tools can be overwhelming for individuals in need of services,” said Macer. “This is why we have created this event to provide a point of connection between veterans and the providers of resources they need and deserve.”
