Macer to co-host local public forums on active shooter emergency responses
INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. Karlee Macer (D-Indianapolis) will co-host a pair of public forums in June to help educate the general public about responses in the event of active shooter emergency situations.
The events are scheduled for:
June 9, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Chapel Hill 7th and 8th Grade Center Auditorium, 7320 W. 10th Street.
June 11, 1 to 3 p.m., Speedway High School Auditorium, 5357 W. 25th Street.
“At these events, I will be joined by officials from the Indiana State Police, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, and the Speedway Police Department to discuss ways to enhance public safety and security in the event people are involved in active shooter situations,” Macer said. “The forums will include presentation of the State Police’s nationally-recognized program, ‘Unarmed Response to Active Shooter Events.’
“Through these forums, we hope to provide prevention strategies and response options to increase the opportunity of survival if people are involved in these horrible events,” she continued. “People will have the chance to speak with local law enforcement about their concerns in the community, and help you prepare for the unthinkable.”
