GiaQuinta to Give Away Trees at Earth Day Event on Monday
INDIANAPOLIS – As part of local Earth Day festivities, State Rep. Phil GiaQuinta (D-Fort Wayne) will be giving away 200 free tulip trees to area residents on Monday (April 25).
GiaQuinta’s tree giveaway will be part of Soil to Soil: The Environmental Cycle of Life, an event sponsored by more than 50 local and state environmental groups from 3 to 8 p.m. at Parkview Field, located at 1301 Ewing Street. The event — which will include nature activities, tree plantings, food, a silent auction, and guest speakers – is free of charge.
“Each year, Indiana lawmakers receive an allotment of trees that they can distribute to local residents,” GiaQuinta said. “I always have enjoyed this opportunity to pass along something that helps improve our environment and teach a little bit about the enduring value of trees. I also like that tree planting gives families a chance to do an activity together. The tulip trees will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, but I encourage everyone to take part in all of our local Earth Day activities and learn what we can do to preserve our planet.”
