Democratic legislative leaders call for repeal of RFRA to reverse extraordinary damage to Indiana’s image
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s Democratic legislative leaders—Sen. Tim Lanane of Anderson and Rep. Scott Pelath of Michigan City—held a joint news conference this morning during which they called for repeal of Senate Enrolled Act 101, the so-called “Religious Freedom Restoration Act” signed into law by the governor last week.
“We have a power imbalance here in Indiana,” Pelath said, “and because of this power imbalance, our leaders have become out-of-touch and they no longer understand Hoosiers.
“The fact is that Hoosiers are extraordinarily tolerant and welcoming…. Repeal of this law is only the first step in reversing the damage this law has done,” Pelath added.
