Democratic Leader GiaQuinta reacts to House Republican 2020 legislative agenda

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana House Democratic Caucus Leader Phil GiaQuinta (D-Fort Wayne) released the following statement in reaction to the Indiana House Republicans’ 2020 Legislative Agenda:

“I’m glad House Republicans took our advice and decided to hold all schools harmless from ILEARN test scores for two years and plan to decouple student test scores from teacher pay. However, this is a short term fix to a long term problem in our state. We’ve spent $133 million on standardized tests in the past two years and do not have much to show for it. The majority’s proposals on education are not victories, they are merely the starting point of a longer conversation that needs to happen regarding the structure of Indiana’s standardized testing system and ensuring that it works for our teachers, students and schools.”
