Today, House Bill 1608, which would ostracize Indiana's LGBTQ community and disregard parent and student preference for what a student wishes to be called in school, passed out of the Indiana House of Representatives. Rep. Ed DeLaney (D-Indianapolis) issued the following statement on the bill:
“If there is one thing I own in this world, it's my name. Everyone owns their name. We should not license our teachers to ignore that key right. They don't want to do it and the legislature should not encourage them to.”
