DeLaney announces five interim study committee assignments in preparation for 2021 Legislative Session

INDIANAPOLIS – State Representative Ed DeLaney (D-Indianapolis) today announced his selection to serve on five interim study committees. The assignments are intended to give lawmakers the opportunity to dive deeper on important issues identified in the previous legislative session. Last month, the Legislative Council assigned study topics to each of the interim study committees.

DeLaney will serve on the following interim committees: Education; Fiscal Policy; Probate Code; Legislative Continuity; and the Code Revision Commission.

“COVID-19 has unfortunately made prior legislative neglect by the Indiana General Assembly apparent,” DeLaney said. “Long-ignored issues ranging from education funding to health care have been exacerbated by the global health pandemic. It's time for the legislature to start exercising its powers of checks and balances for the betterment of Hoosiers. Interim study committees are an integral function of the legislative process, and it's my hope that our findings from research, testimony and debate will lead to concrete legislative change in the 2021 legislative session.”

During the legislative session, DeLaney serves as a member on the House Ways and Means Committee; Education Committee; and Judiciary Committee.
