Candelaria Reardon elected to serve as Board Chair of NALEO Educational Fund
State Rep. Mara Candelaria Reardon (D-Munster) was recently elected to serve as the Board Chair for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund. Candelaria Reardon was elected along with three new board members, one returning member and a new designee member to serve on the organization’s 15-member board.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be elected Board Chair of NALEO, an organization focused on increasing the effectiveness of Latino policymakers, mobilizing the Latino community to engage in civic life and promoting policies that improve the quality of life for Latinos. I look forward to working with my fellow board members and the NALEO team to ensure that we are fulfilling our mission to lift up and empower the Latino community.”
Board Chair and Indiana State Representative Mara Candelaria Reardon and board members Ruben Barrales, Senior Vice President, External Relations, Government Relations and Public Policy, Wells Fargo & Company, Emilio Gonzalez, Executive Director for Policy Strategic Alliances, Verizon and the Honorable Pauline Medrano, Dallas County Treasurer were elected during a meeting held in Los Angeles, California, on November 18, 2019.
NALEO Educational Fund is the nation's leading non-partisan, non-profit organization that facilitates the full participation of Latinos in the American political process, from citizenship to public service.
Additionally, Candelaria Reardon has served on the Indiana Commission for Women, Market Development Recycling Board, Minority and Women’s Business Enterprise Commission, Hispanic/Latino Affairs Commission, and the Indiana Commission to Combat Substance Abuse.
She is the Chair of the Board of Hispanic Caucus Chairs, and is a member of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators.
