The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced this week that the city of South Bend will receive $1 million in Community Crossings Matching Grants for the spring of 2023. St. Joseph County will also receive a $1 million matching grant from the program. These funds can be used to build and improve local infrastructure projects.

State Rep. Maureen Bauer (D-South Bend) released the following statement today regarding the funding:

“I'm grateful INDOT has awarded $2M in 2023 Spring Community Crossing Matching Grant dollars to our community for our local roads and bridges,” Bauer said. “Transportation infrastructure is one of the most basic and important services our government provides. I'm excited to see the state invest tax dollars in improving the City of South Bend and St. Joseph County.”
