Next Tuesday, Jan. 16, the 10th annual Indiana Military Veterans Legislative Day will take place at the Statehouse from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. This event is a great opportunity for veterans from around the state to meet with elected members of the Indiana General Assembly and discuss legislation that impacts their lives.

Starting at 10:30 a.m. in the South Atrium on floor two of the Statehouse, the main program for this event will include recognition of honored guests, the presentation of this year's Chair of Honor, a summary of legislative success for veterans and a talk from Keynote Speaker Keith Williams. Mr. Williams is a Hoosier veteran currently continuing his service to the nation at the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Donuts and coffee will be served starting at 9 a.m. in the North Atrium on floor 2 of the Statehouse where all are welcome to enjoy the free refreshments. Lunch will be provided following the program at 10:30 a.m. Attendees will be able to meet with legislators and access resources from around the state.

“I am excited to host the valiant men and women that served our great nation at the Statehouse next week. Hoosier veterans have made so many sacrifices to protect us, so it's important to remind them that they have people in the Statehouse advocating for their interests.,” Bartlett said. “This is the least we can do as lawmakers: to work for and with our veterans. This day is dedicated to the brave men and women that call Indiana home.”

“It has been an honor to organize this annual event for a whole decade now, and I am very thankful that my colleague Rep. Renee Pack (D-Indianapolis), a veteran herself, will take the reins from me after this year's events. I have great confidence we will be able to continue serving our veteran population with the responsibility for IMVLD in her capable hands.”

The event will be co-sponsored by Rep. Bartlett and Speaker of the House Todd Huston (R-Fishers). Planning Committee Chair Lisa A. Wilken, a United States Air Force Veteran, will be joined by Col. James Leonard, Retired Indiana National Guard and Stacy Dieckman, United States Marine Corp Veteran as Co-Chairs.
