Austin delivers remarks at The Book at Harrah’s Hoosier Park official grand opening for sports wagering
ANDERSON – State Rep. Terri Austin (D-Anderson) today delivered remarks at the official grand opening of The Book at Harrah’s Hoosier Park Racing & Casino and participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Book offers sports betting, a brand new amenity to Harrah's Hoosier Park, in addition to casino gaming, racing, dining and entertainment. Sports enthusiasts in Indiana will now be able to make legal wagers on sports like professional football, basketball, baseball, golf, and Division 1 college sports – in addition to more than 100 other sporting events throughout the year.
“Madison County sports fans, and visitors alike, can now enjoy a whole new way to experience sporting events at The Book,” said Austin.
“I’ve been supportive of making sports wagering legal because illegal sports wagering is a $300 million illegal industry in Indiana,” she continued. “Halting that practice by creating this legal framework for sports betting will be a good thing for our state.
“We also hope this means that Harrah's Hoosier Park will generate increased visitation and tourism with the added entertainment experience of sports betting,” Austin said.
Anderson Mayor Thomas Broderick Jr., and State Sen. Tim Lanane (D-Anderson) also will deliver remarks and participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Caesars Entertainment's Indiana properties are among the first in the Midwest to offer sports betting. Harrah's Hoosier Park and Winner's Circle Race, Sports, Pub in New Haven both officially open Thursday, September 19, rounding out Caesars Entertainment's sports book project in Indiana.
