Mike Andrade represents House District 12 in the Indiana House of Representatives. Mike represents the Town of Munster, Town of Highland, Town of Griffith, and a portion of Schererville. He serves on three committees: House Financial Institutions Committee, Roads and Transportation Committee, and Ways and Means Committee. Mike is the Ranking Democrat on the Financial Institutions Committee and the Indiana Taiwan Friendship Caucus Co-Chair.

Mike has been recognized twice as Legislator of the Year by both the Indiana Emergency Medical Services Association and the Indiana Fire Chiefs Association for his outstanding contributions to public safety. Among his most notable achievements is the successful passage of HB 1396, the "Stop the Bleed" bill, which ensures the provision of tourniquets for use in emergencies. Additionally, Mike co-authored HB 1112, a significant piece of legislation that increased the state Medicaid reimbursement rate for private Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to align with the federal Medicare rate. These accomplishments underscore his dedication to enhancing emergency response and healthcare services in Indiana.

As a Latino legislator in Indiana’s House of Representatives, Mike is a proud member of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators and Co-Chairs the Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives Advisory Board for Purdue University Northwest. He is also the Chief Advisor to the Valparaiso University President on Advancing Latino Education.

In addition to representing his constituents in House District 12, Mike serves on several boards, including the Governance Committee and Executive Board for United Way of Northwest Indiana, Purdue University Northwest Chancellor’s Board of Advisors, Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue’s Advisory Council, and is a member of Nipsco’s Community Advisory Panel.

Mike is a community leader, small business owner, and entrepreneur. Mike and his family reside in Munster, Indiana.
