Those enrolled for coverage through ACA exchanges need to carefully monitor their options
STATEHOUSE – State Rep. Ed DeLaney (D-Indianapolis) today issued the following statement on continuing efforts to ensure that as many Hoosiers as possible are able to benefit from the Affordable Care Act:
“I continue to monitor the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in hopes that as many Hoosiers as possible can benefit from it. Now that the ACA is reaching its first anniversary, those who have enrolled for coverage on the exchanges need to carefully monitor their options.
“Linked here is a detailed article from the New York Times about those options and I want to bring one paragraph to your specific attention:”
“Not everyone has to worry about these invisible price changes, especially if incomes haven’t changed. But in markets where federal rules apply and the benchmark is going down a lot, it pays to return to the marketplace before renewing. Places where that will be an issue include parts of Georgia, Indiana and Ohio—where benchmark prices are declining by more than 15 percent. For people in those areas, returning to the marketplace could prevent a surprise tax bill.”
