State swimming champion Emma Wright honored by Beck, Indiana House
INDIANAPOLIS – Emma Wright, the first state champion in the history of Hobart High School’s swimming program, was honored for her accomplishments by State Rep. Lisa Beck (D-Lakes of the Four Seasons) and the Indiana House.
Wright won the 100-yard freestyle race during the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Swimming and Diving State Championship earlier this month at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.
“When Emma joined the Hobart High School swimming program as a freshman, she set a goal of winning a state title by her junior year,” Beck said. “As it turns out, she decided not to wait that long to achieve her goal. Emma was only a sophomore when she became the first state swimming champion in Hobart Brickie history. She won her race with a time of 49.95 seconds in the freestyle.
“This is what dedication, training, and passion can do for you, and I am delighted to help honor this remarkable young lady,” Beck concluded.
Joining Emma in the House for the resolution were family members, coaches and school officials.
