State Rep. Vernon G. Smith seeks students to apply for page program
INDIANAPOLIS — State Rep. Vernon G. Smith (D-Gary) asks that Indiana House District 14 students interested in learning about the legislative process apply for the 2016 Indiana House Page Program. The program, designed for students who are at least 13 years of age, offers a firsthand look at the legislative process.
Participating students are excused from class for a day as they tour the Indiana Statehouse and participate in a wide range of activities including a behind-the-scenes look at the Indiana State Legislature.
When the Indiana General Assembly is taking place, pages are invited to view the proceeding from the Indiana House of Representatives floor.
“Every year, I look forward to meeting the bright, young students who page from my district,” said Smith. “This is an incredible opportunity for students to learn about the legislative process.”
Students must supply their own transportation to and from the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis.
