State Rep. Phil GiaQuinta appointed to legislative study committees
INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. Phil GiaQuinta has been appointed to legislative study committees that will meet during the coming months.
STATE REP. PHIL GIAQUINTA, (D-Fort Wayne), Indiana House District 80, will serve on the Interim Study Committee on Elections as well as the Interim Study Committee on Public Policy.
The Interim Study Committee on Elections will review a variety of election-related issues, while the Interim Study Committee on Public Policy will study whether smoking should be prohibited in bars, casinos and private clubs and what the fiscal impact of such prohibition would be.
Also, the Interim Study Committee on Public Policy will examine whether e-cigarettes should be defined as tobacco products and subject to smoking bans. Plus, e-cigarette taxation will be examined. In addition, the committee will study the fiscal impact of an increase in the cigarette tax and its effect on smoking rates. The impact of smoking on pregnancy and families will be a topic for examination as well.
