State Rep. Clyde Kersey’s technical corrections bill moves to the Senate
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana House members today approved legislation authored by State Representative Clyde Kersey (D-Terre Haute) that would make a series of corrections to state laws.
House Bill 1181 is a standard piece of legislation that is enacted annually. Its goal is to correct technical errors that may occur as well as addressing and resolving problems between pieces of legislation.
“We pass a bill of this type every session,” Kersey said. “This year’s version runs more than 160 pages, and represents the work of a few committed individuals in the Legislative Service Agency (LSA) who go through the bills we passed in the previous session with a fine-tooth comb. They make sure the language matches the intent and take special care in making sure all periods and commas are in the right places. In other words, we could not do this without them.”
This legislation covers a wide array of topics dealing with, but not limited to, the construction of bills, voting methods, law enforcement, property sales, a variety of taxes, economic development, Medicaid, advertising, and various crimes.
House Bill 1181 passed with a vote of 95 to 0 and will now move to the Senate for further consideration.
