State Rep. Carey Hamilton participating in 2017 Emerging Leaders Program
INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. Carey Hamilton (D-Indianapolis) is among a select group of lawmakers from across the country participating in the 2017 Emerging Leaders Program, an event sponsored by the State Legislative Leaders Foundation and the Darden School of Business that is taking place this week at the University of Virginia.
The program is open to state legislators who have demonstrated qualities that mark them as future leaders in government, and designed to help inspire them to continue their careers in public service. Participants are nominated by legislative leaders in their home states.
Discussions will include classes on ethical leadership, the art of compromise and coalition building, and the philosophical underpinnings of representative democracy.
“I am honored to have been selected to take part in this program, and I look forward to comparing notes with colleagues from across the country, not only in how to become a more effective advocate for the issues of importance to my constituents, but also become a better servant for the people who live and work in Indiana House District 87,” Hamilton said.
