State program pays for job training, says Rep. Wright

News & Media

Many adults would like to gain new skills so they can transition to a better job or re-enter the workforce, but they don’t have the means to pay for training. At the same time, we know employers in certain industries are struggling to find enough qualified employees to fill open positions.

To address these issues, the state has launched the Next Level Jobs initiative included in Senate Bill 198, which I was proud to support. This new state program has more than $20 million in grants available to provide FREE training and education to adults looking to fill existing and future high-demand jobs around the state. The grants pay the cost for a high-value certificate at Ivy Tech Community College, Vincennes University or at an approved workforce training provider.
