Speedway Schools lauded for outstanding academic performance

STATEHOUSE – State Rep. Karlee Macer (D-Indianapolis) lauded Speedway School’s students, teachers and staff for showing consistent excellence in the classroom according to grades put out this week by the state Board of Education.

Since the school rating system began in 2005, Speedway has continued to rank among the very best in the state. The school district has maintained a consistent “A” grade in recent years.

Macer applauded her young constituents and praised them for their continued outstanding performance.

“Though some of our schools do not have the luxuries of wealthier districts, they more than make up for it through the dedication of their educators and the commitment of their students,” said Macer.

The scores for schools are based on factors such as how many students are passing state standardized tests.

Macer commended the hard work of parents, students and educators for their part in maintaining a standard of excellence in their community and working hard to promote a well-rounded education system for Speedway’s children.

“I have visited Speedway schools and it’s always a great pleasure to see them continuously excel year after year,” said Macer. The standard of excellence is set by Superintendent Ken Hull.

“We see an unparalleled amount of dedication both in and out of the classroom. We have parents who are consistently involved in their child’s academic life. We have students who are working diligently in class as well as at home and we have educators going above and beyond to provide students with as many resources as possible,” she continued.

While other districts continue to struggle, Macer points to schools like Speedway to be an example of success despite facing financial obstacles.

“The Speedway School Corporation should be recognized for their dedication to preparing students to embrace the responsibilities of today and the possibilities of tomorrow,” said Macer.
