State Rep. Vernon G. Smith (D-Gary) is looking for local students in his community to come to the Statehouse to meet their Representative and learn about the legislative process. Pages aid their Representatives by carrying out tasks on the house floor during session and grow their skills for future endeavors.

“I have been blessed to work with the best and brightest students of District 14 over the years and I look forward to working with students each session,” Smith said. “The Page program is a great opportunity for students to learn more about Indiana’s legislature and state government as they spend the day at the Statehouse. Any student that is in K-12 and at least 13 years of age is able to participate in the day-long program.

“I hope to see students from my district participate in this program. One of my favorite parts of the House being in session is getting to work with these student pages. I look forward to meeting every student participating in this great program.”
