INDIANAPOLIS – Scholarships of $750 each will be available to 20 non-traditional women students from across Indiana, thanks to the Indiana POWER (Political Organization for Women’s Education and Representation) Caucus.

POWER’s vice-president, State Rep. Robin Shackleford (D-Indianapolis), today offered a reminder that the application deadline for these scholarships is Wed., Dec. 20.

“These scholarships are intended to assist non-traditional women students whose education was delayed or interrupted,” Shackleford said. “The POWER Caucus is excited about this opportunity to help women students whose drive to succeed has overcome any adversities life has presented.

“We are especially interested in recognizing women who give back to their communities and whose goals and desires for education align with their passions,” Shackleford added.

Eligible POWER Scholarship applicants would include women who are returning to school, changing careers, seeking advancement in their career, and/or stay-at-home moms entering the workplace who are in need of additional education or training.

Eligibility requirements and application materials (including a list of required supporting documents) are available at the POWER Caucus website: www.inpowercaucus.org. Questions can be directed to Shackleford’s office by calling 317.232.9798 or sending email to [email protected].

All application packages must be postmarked no later than Wednesday, Dec. 20; emailed applications and incomplete applications will not be considered. Scholarship awards will be announced by Jan. 20, 2018, and an award ceremony will follow sometime in Feb., 2018.
