Rep. Linda Lawson to host public office hours + Statehouse 101 presentation
INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. Linda Lawson (D-Hammond) has scheduled “Public Office Hours” in Indiana House District 1 and a “Statehouse 101” presentation for Thursday, Oct. 16.
The “Public Office Hours” will be held from 1-3 p.m. at the Hammond Public Library, 564 State St., and the “Statehouse 101” presentation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Woodmar Methodist Church, 7320 Northcote Ave., in Hammond.
“The ‘Public Office Hours’ will be an opportunity for constituents to bring their problems or concerns to me and my leadership assistant, Keri Dattilo,” explained Lawson. “We will sit down and discuss them one-on-one with them and try to find a solution to the problems or address the concerns. If I cannot take care of the problem immediately, Keri and I will take your issue back to the Statehouse and work to solve it.”
“The ‘Statehouse 101’ presentation will give attendees a better idea about how the legislative process works and what it takes to get legislation passed through the Indiana House and Senate,” continued Lawson. “It can be confusing when looking from the outside in, but at the ‘Statehouse 101’ session we will take everyone inside the process. I urge my constituents to attend both the ‘Public Office Hours’ and the ‘Statehouse 101’ presentation if they have the opportunity. Of course, there is no charge for going to either event.”
Lawson said her goal is to make contacting her as convenient as possible. If constituents are unable to attend the Oct. 16 events and need help with problems or want to express concerns, they can telephone Keri Dattilo, Lawson’s leadership assistant, at the toll-free number of 1-800-382-9842 or send an email to Lawson’s legislative email address, [email protected].
