STATEHOUSE – State Rep. Karlee Macer (D-Indianapolis) has been appointed by House Democratic Leader Scott Pelath to serve on the Midwestern Legislative Conference (MLC) Economic Development Committee of the Council of State Governments.

Research topics will include tax incentives, venture capital, job training initiatives, and foreign business investment. During the most recent biennium, the committee also concentrated on entrepreneurship, workforce development, regional growth strategies, and the role of universities in knowledge-based economies.

“The MLC Economic Development Committee delivers a forum to examine the economic health of Midwestern states and the region as a whole,” explained Macer.

“Innovative economic developments are crucial in sustaining our state’s vitality. I look forward to teaming up with other policymakers to identify applicable strategies that will cultivate prosperity within Indiana,” she added.

Legislators from 11 Midwest states and four Canadian provinces comprise the committee’s membership.
