Public meetings to discuss blight elimination properties

STATEHOUSE – State Rep. Dan Forestal and other state legislators and community leaders are pleased to see their efforts culminating in an announcement that the City of Indianapolis is moving forward with plans to demolish blighted structures utilizing more than $6 million in Hardest Hit Funds.

“It has been gratifying to work closely with others to give our community another tool it can use in improving our neighborhoods and making these neighborhoods better places in which to live and work,” Forestal said. “I was thankful for the opportunity to assist in securing these funds.

“So many individuals and organizations have joined forces to bring us to this significant milestone in the effort to address problems of urban blight throughout Indianapolis that I just want to reiterate what a classic ‘win-win’ scenario this is for the citizens of our city and the residents of neighborhoods throughout Indiana House District 100,” Forestal added.

Forestal explained that two public meetings have been scheduled for Tuesday, July 8, at “The Hall” (Old City Hall), 202 N. Alabama St. The first meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m.; a second meeting will be held on that date at 5:30 p.m.
