Pryor offers protection for people to testify without intimidation

News & Media

INDIANAPOLIS — State Representative Cherrish Pryor (D-Indianapolis) offered an amendment to protect the identity of people who testify in a lawsuit over a zoning or developmental decision. She released the following statement today:

“A person should be able to testify without intimidation,” Pryor said. “Local people are showing up and voicing their concerns, and then this corporation sues them simply because they feel like they should get their way. That is a form of intimidation and bullying. Your average Hoosier does not have the money to defend themselves against a huge corporation, which is why we have to step in and implement these safeguards.”

Pryor's amendment was ruled non-germane to House Bill 1381, which addressed the development of solar and wind power devices.
