Pryor, Hamilton elected to House Democratic Caucus Leadership team
INDIANAPOLIS – Two Indianapolis lawmakers have been selected to serve the Indiana House Democratic Caucus in leadership positions following the 2022 Midterm Election. State Reps. Cherrish Pryor (D-Indianapolis) and Carey Hamilton (D-Indianapolis) today were elected as House Minority Floor Leader and Minority Caucus Chair, respectively. They will serve alongside House Minority Leader Phil GiaQuinta (D-Fort Wayne), who was reelected to the position after a caucus vote.
“I’m very honored to be re-elected as House Minority Floor Leader,” Pryor said. “Right now, there are so many issues our state is facing, and I’m committed to working with my colleagues in our caucus and across the aisle to find solutions for Hoosiers. While I recognize there are tough battles that lie ahead, I’m excited for the opportunity to serve and create a better quality of life for Hoosiers, now and in the future. Let’s get to work.”
“I am grateful and excited to get to work as Caucus Chair,” Hamilton said. “As we craft the budget for this upcoming session, we have a great opportunity to make big investments in the basics, including public education, childcare and public health. I can’t wait to help lead the charge in fighting for a better future for all Hoosiers.”
Indiana House Democratic Caucus leadership positions went into effect immediately following an internal election this afternoon. New members of the caucus were in attendance for the vote following the 2022 Midterms.
The 123rd General Assembly will convene for the ceremonial start of session on Nov. 22, otherwise known as Organization Day.
