Pfaff to serve on legislative study committees this summer
INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. Tonya Pfaff (D-Terre Haute) today announced that she has been selected to serve on four interim study committees in preparation for the 2021 legislative session.
The interim committees explore a range of legislative topics. At the hearings, members listen to the testimony of experts and the general public. During the legislative session, permanent committees in both chambers often consider bills based upon the interim committees’ findings.
Pfaff will serve on Interim Study Committees on Commerce and Economic Development, Elections, the Nonemergency Medical Transportation Commission and the Indiana Standards and Assessment Accommodation Task Force.
“It is a unique privilege to be on the summer task force on education accommodations, especially after successfully passing a bill on a similar subject last session,” said Pfaff.
House Bill 1341, which is soon to become law, will expand opportunities for students with disabilities and contribute to workforce development in Indiana.
“Furthermore, I am excited to hit the ground running on the Interim Study Committee on Elections, considering the serious complications we are facing amid the coronavirus pandemic,” Pfaff continued. “There is a lot of work to be done there and I am highly motivated to continue my effort in expanding voter access for all Hoosiers.
“I am ready to get back in the game this summer and work with my colleagues and constituents to address the many issues driving legislative change in the session to come.”
