Pelath names long-time consumer advocate to IURC Nominating Committee

INDIANAPOLIS – Former state representative and long-time utility reform advocate Win Moses from Fort Wayne has been selected by Indiana House Democratic Leader Scott Pelath (D-Michigan City) to serve on a commission that helps select members of the state’s utility oversight panel.

Moses’ selection to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission’s (IURC) Nominating Committee was announced Tuesday by Pelath. His appointment is effective immediately.

The committee is charged with formulating a list of candidates to fill any vacancy that occurs on the IURC. This list then will be forwarded to the governor, who selects the person who will fill the vacancy.

“Throughout his career in public service, Win Moses has made his name as a staunch advocate for the public’s best interest in the affairs of government,” Pelath said. “There are few people who have carved better reputations in making sure that public utilities live up to their public responsibilities, so I am delighted that Win has chosen to get involved in selecting those people who oversee Indiana utilities.”

During his tenure in the Indiana General Assembly, Moses served as the chairman of the House Commerce and Utility Committee. He was twice named Indiana Consumer Advocate of the Year.

Moses was the founding president of the Citizens Action Coalition, a consumer protection group.
