The cost of going to college or enrolling in career training programs is often the only thing stopping an individual from taking the next step toward a better career and a more successful future.

The state has scholarships, grants and programs available for students of all ages to help offset some of the costs of higher education and career training. I have provided information about these programs below. I will continue to support efforts to make college and career training affordable and attainable for all Hoosiers. Please note eligibility requirements exist for each program. A complete list of requirements can be found on the Indiana Commission for Higher Education website: www.in.gov/che/4498.htm.

21st Century Scholarship

Up to 4 years of paid tuition for students who demonstrate financial need, academic success and a commitment to the ideals of the program

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Apply in 7th/8th grade; deadline is June 30 immediately following 8th grade; Children in foster care may apply after 8th grade

William A. Crawford Minority Teacher Scholarship

Scholarships for minority students planning to teach in an accredited school in Indiana

APPLICATION DEADLINE: September 4

Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship

Provides up to $7,500 per year for high school and college students who are high-achieving and pursuing careers in education

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Fall 2018 to be eligible for the 2019-2020 academic year

Mitch Daniels Early Graduation Scholarship

A one-time grant for students who graduate from a public high school at least one year early to use on college tuition, fees and other expenses

APPLICATION DEADLINE: September 1, 2018

Military/Veteran and Public Safety Officer Scholarships and Grants

There are a number of scholarships and grants available to veterans, military personnel, public safety officers and their children

Workforce Ready Grant

Pays tuition and mandatory fees for qualifying high-value certificates in specific fields at Ivy Tech Community College or Vincennes University

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Accepted year round

Adult Student Grant

A $2,000 renewable grant that helps adults continue or start a college education

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Accepted year round

Frank O’Bannon Grant

A need-based grant used for tuition and fees

APPLICATION DEADLINE: File FAFSA by April 15

EARN Indiana

A work-study program for college students with financial need to earn real-world experience and funds for college expenses

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Accepted year round

Earline S. Rogers Student Teaching Stipend for Minorities

Stipend for minority students to participate in student teaching or a school administration internship as part of their degree requirements

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Fall Term: Oct. 4 / Spring Term: Jan. 31

Student Teaching Stipend for High-Need Fields

A stipend for students planning to teach in a high-need field such as middle school or high school math, science or special education
