Macer honors Indiana Middle School Principal of the Year Dan Wilson
STATEHOUSE – In recognition of his 8 years of outstanding leadership as a principal at Lynhurst 7th & 8th Grade Center, Dan Wilson of Speedway was honored yesterday by Indiana House of Representatives members in a resolution authored by State Rep. Karlee Macer (D-Indianapolis).
The Indiana Association of School Principals selected Wilson as the 2014 Indiana Middle School Principal of the Year.
“Through hard work, dedication and special devotion to the children of Lynhurst 7th & 8th Grade Center, Dan Wilson has transitioned the school from a low expectations institution, to a school that pushes students to do their best and set high goals while he supports them with love and a nurturing attitude,” said Macer.
During his time as principal, Wilson has raised the percentage of students passing math and language arts classes from 23 percent to 60 percent.
Macer said the key to success for Wilson has been his ability to make the children of Lynhurst 7th & 8th Grade Center his top priority.
“This resolution was proposed to congratulate Dan Wilson for his dedication to our students,” said Macer. “I am very proud to recognize this amazing educator as well as the school in a community I represent.”
The motion was adopted after glowing testimony from state representatives as well as Wayne Township Superintendent Jeff Butts, all recognizing Wilson’s ability as a leader to empower his students.
