Legislative interim study committee appointments for State Rep. Ryan Hatfield announced
INDIANAPOLIS – State Rep. Ryan Hatfield (D-Evansville) has been named to several interim committees that will study a variety of issues expected to be considered in the 2019 session of the Indiana state legislature.
Hatfield has been appointed to the Indiana Uniform Law Commission; the Interim Study Committee on Corrections & Criminal Code; the Interim Study Committee on Elections; the Interim Study Committee on Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications; and the Interim Study Committee on Public Health, Behavioral Health & Human Services.
The Interim Study Committee on Corrections & Criminal Code will look at current trends concerning criminal behavior, sentencing, and incarceration. In addition, human trafficking issues will be studied as will bias crimes.
The Interim Study Committee on Energy, Utilities & Telecommunications will review the enforcement of the Indiana Telephone Solicitation Act, the regulation of automatic dialing machines and how updated technology is affecting cybersecurity, robocalls and telephone solicitation.
The Interim Study Committee on Public Health, Behavioral Health & Human Service will examine various issues related to medical marijuana and opioid treatment programs.
Additionally, the committee will review conditions for receiving federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. Nurse licensure issues will also be studied.
