Johnson announces District 100 scholarship opportunity
State Rep. Blake Johnson (D-Indianapolis) invites eligible candidates to apply for the Mary Moriarty Adams Memorial Scholarship. Named in honor of longtime Indianapolis City-County Council member and devoted public servant Mary Moriarty Adams, who passed in 2018, the scholarship recognizes graduating seniors who have shown a strong commitment to public and community service. Johnson launched the program in 2016.
The scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors (or others planning to enroll in postsecondary education for the first time) who live or attend school in Indiana House District 100. Successful applicants will have a record of academic achievement, community engagement and volunteerism. Those hoping to pursue a career in public service or community development should also apply (public safety, education, public health, etc.).
The online application is now open for the scholarship and can be found here. The deadline for this year's application is Saturday, April 15, 2023. This scholarship is made possible by Johnson and his wife Natalie Clayton.
“It is an absolute honor for Natalie and me to offer this scholarship each year, recognizing an extraordinary young person who has shown an uncommon commitment to service and volunteerism,” said Johnson.
