State Rep. Carolyn Jackson (D-Hammond) today voted to send public retirees a 13th check this year. After today’s vote, House Bill 1004 has passed the House of Representatives and is heading to the Senate for consideration.

Jackson released the following statement celebrating the bill’s passage:

“With the passage of House Bill 1004 in the House today, the state is taking a step to make good on our promise to support public retirees, a promise broken by last year’s Republican budget. With the ever-increasing costs of housing and utilities, retired Hoosiers need to be cut a break. I hope that the 13th check makes retirees’ budgets a little easier to balance this year. I now urge the Senate to take action and protect retired Hoosiers and keep them in their homes.”
