IUSB Gets Approval for Renovation of Two Buildings
INDIANAPOLIS—State Rep. B. Patrick Bauer (D-South Bend) said the State Budget Committee approved the expenditure of $7 million for the renovation of the Administration Building and Riverside Hall on the Indiana University South Bend (IUSB) campus.
The State Budget Committee gave its go-ahead to the project during the committee’s meeting Tuesday at the Statehouse.
Both buildings will undergo major electrical, mechanic and plumbing updates as well as improvements in the data and security/access system.
“Both projects are critical to IUSB,” said Bauer. “The ground floor of the Administration Building will be renovated to provide a more efficient and functional space for admissions and financial aid offices. Riverside Hall is going to find new life as a health and wellness center. The dental hygiene clinic used to be located there, but in recent years the building has been vacant, awaiting needed improvements, so the building could be used to its fullest potential. The transformation of Riverside Hall and the improvements in the Administration Building are necessary to meet the growing needs of IUSB.”
The Administration’s updated space will house student service-oriented offices, including Administration and Fiscal Affairs, Admissions, Career Services, Financial Aid, Human Resources, Student Services, the Testing Center, and the Titan Success Center.
In addition to the health and wellness center, Riverside Hall will house clinical lab sciences, radiology, and a medical support pharmacy, as well as classrooms, office space and support areas. The Riverside Hall project will cost $3.4 million.
