Indiana House joins Rep. Karlee Macer in honoring the Constructing Our Future Program
INDIANAPOLIS – Members of the Indiana House today joined State Representative Karlee Macer(D-Indianapolis) in honoring the Constructing Our Future Program.
The Constructing Our Future Program (COF) was developed by women enrolled in a public policy class at the Indiana Women’s Prison.
This program is designed to provide a pathway for current and formerly incarcerated Hoosiers to be reintegrated into society with the basic skills to build, repair, and revitalize abandoned homes and neighborhoods.
These participants are required to accumulate an estimated total of 5,000 participation and service hours in order to obtain their own homes.
“Constructing Our Future participants value sobriety, honest communication, and strive to learn new skills to better manage their lives,” said Macer.
“This program is crafted to help Hoosiers who are currently or formerly incarcerated to become independent, law-abiding citizens, who desire to give back to their communities,” Macer continued. “They also strive to reduce recidivism and rebuild their communities one house, one project, and one neighborhood at a time.”
