House Democratic Leader Pelath offers support for ethics reform bill
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana House Democratic Leader Scott Pelath from Michigan City has issued the following statement about House Bill 1002, legislation he has co-authored with House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-Indianapolis) that outlines a series of ethics reforms for state lawmakers:
“Updates to our ethical standards must occur periodically, as changing political environments sometimes bring to surface shortcomings.
“I am pleased to work with Speaker Bosma and State Reps. Greg Steuerwald (R-Danville) and Clyde Kersey (D-Terre Haute) on this effort to update our ethical standards. I believe House Bill 1002 provides some common sense steps in helping us improve the expectations we have of ourselves.
“It is my hope that we will continue deliberations on this matter in a thoughtful, careful manner.”
