GiaQuinta: ILEARN scores symptom of larger problem

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana House Democratic Leader Phil GiaQuinta (D-Fort Wayne) today issued the following statement after the release of scores from the new ILEARN test:
“As I said last week, the bottom line is that Republicans have been running an education system in Indiana for over ten years that doesn’t adequately pay our teachers, underfunds our traditional public schools and is failing to test our kids correctly. These ILEARN test scores are a symptom of a larger problem: education policies that prioritize for-profit companies over our schools, students and teachers. The Indiana House Democratic Caucus stands ready to work on education policies that set our schools, teachers and students up for success.”
