Deal: We must do all we can to increase school bus safety

A new law I supported will improve safety at school bus stops across our state. All Hoosier students and parents should expect the safest process possible when getting to and from school each day.

The measure increases penalties for drivers who disregard school bus stop arms, requires students to be picked up and dropped off on the right-hand side of highways, and allows for speed limits to be lowered in dangerous areas. We also set up a system to allow local communities to provide funding for video cameras on school bus stop arms.
